Extra-stiff rail wire

Three-panel learning framework
What am I looking at?
Extra-stiff guidewire with an almost rod-like shaft and a short flexible distal segment, producing the most rigid support profile among the wires in this section.
What does it do, and where will I see it?
Very stiff fixed-core rail wire that straightens tortuosity and supports large-bore sheaths, endografts, and venous stents. Typical procedural contexts include EVAR/TEVAR, large-bore venous stenting, and large thrombectomy systems.
What most clearly distinguishes it from similar devices?
The Lunderquist® functions as an extra-stiff delivery rail for the largest devices in the book; its rigidity is substantially greater than that of routine Amplatz or Bentson working guidewires.
