Recognition, context, and distinction

01

What am I looking at?

Visual recognition

Guidewire-based system with a collapsible conical braided-nitinol filter, radiopaque mouth loop and markers, and delivery/recovery catheters; the filter remains apposed to the vessel wall while maintaining flow.

02

What does it do, and where will I see it?

Use & procedural context

Deployed distal to a target lesion to contain and remove embolic debris released during selected atherectomy, angioplasty, or stenting procedures. Typical contexts include carotid, lower-extremity arterial, and saphenous-vein-graft intervention.

03

What most clearly distinguishes it from similar devices?

Key distinctions

Unlike an IVC filter, it provides temporary intraprocedural protection and is retrieved with captured debris at procedure end; unlike a retrieval basket, it is positioned before treatment and functions as the working guidewire.
